Youth In Need Spring Delivery

This morning I met a wonderful person, Michelle Brooks, who is the Community Engagement Manager for Youth In Need, a shelter for kids and teens in St. Charles. She actually offered to meet me somewhere to receive a donation of blessing bags and blankets! This was so sweet of her to do. Last night I had an appointment that just happened to be almost next door to the shelter so we stopped by to see if anyone might be there still from staff to receive them and save her the stop this morning, but there wasn’t, so instead I met her early this morning close to my school. It was so amazing that she cares so much about the kids her facility helps that she would do something like this. I am glad though that I also got to see their facility. It looks cozy and homey and a safe place for teens and kids in crisis. After talking to Ms. Brooks, I am excited to volunteer there this summer in person. I also told her about my friend Danielle Stanfield who has her own foundation called Smile Box Foundation that gives art therapy kits to people in shelters like Youth In Need. I am hoping that she can donate some there because Ms. Brooks said they love craft and art activities. It is great to be able to know of other resources and connect people to get places like Youth In Need the things they need to help kids and teens.
