A Very Special Blanket Donation #Forthekids

Recently I got to have one of the most special days I have ever had since I started Abbie's Helping Hands. From all of the fleece from my spring fleece drive, I was very proud to have brought over 30 of my Abbie's Helping Hands blankets with me to MU Women's and Children's Hospital and tour the hospital. MUWC is a Children's Miracle Network Hospital and I do a lot of fundraising and benefit work for CMN because it is the official community service focus for the Miss America Organization!

I got to meet so many patients and their families and learn about what their experience is as they go through the process of treatment and being in the hospital, which can be very stressful. The feeling of personally letting the kids pick which blanket they wanted, and seeing them light up when they found out they got to keep it, touched my heart like maybe no other experience I have ever had.

I am very grateful to have had this opportunity and it really reminded me of what a difference this organization is making in people's lives. I don't say that to sound overimportant or anything. I just mean that when I started this five years ago, I never dreamed that I would get to have so many special and important chances to interact with the very people I wanted to help. It is a privilege and I appreciate every person I get to spend time with.

I can't wait until the next time I get to take my wagon around the halls of a CMN hospital and share some more AHH love.
