Snowflake Village

Right before Christmas I had the honor of being a volunteer at St. Louis Children's Hospital for their Snowflake Village program. Snowflake Village is a totally free gift market where families can come do Christmas shopping for their kids (and their brothers and sisters) who are in the hospital there.

Many times for financial reasons families don’t have the extra resources for gifts because of their kids’ medical bills, or the time or ability to shop because they are there from out of town or they are there in the hospital around the clock.

I was able to contribute about 12 blankets and a basket of toys to the massive collection of toys, clothes, games, and blankets available for people to “buy.”

I got to work in the wrapping room. The most special moment for me was when a father came through my station with his bag of gifts for his son who loves dinosaurs and in the bag was a blanket I had just brought in and donated that had a huge green dinosaur on it. We talked a little bit about his son and I have been thinking of them this holiday for sure.

Happy Holidays to all of you who support Abbie’s Helping Hands all year long. ❤️
